Heishuset

The machinery for the mining lift was located here, with large drums with wires, units and joysticks. In January 1943, the elevator building was blown up during a command raid. Today it houses a unique photo exhibition and a great collection of minerals and rocks.

Even though drums and units are gone today, the lift house has in many ways become the heart of the mining area today. In addition to the photo exhibition and the rock collection, you will find the complete unit from Børtveit power station, which supplied the mining community with power.

The lift house is well suited for various types of events, and provides a unique setting for weddings, anniversaries, concerts and other gatherings. Here is also a new and modern small kitchen approved by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Contact Venelaget for Gruo if you wish to rent the lift house!
